How to store an artificial Christmas tree

An artificial Christmas tree is a unique product that will serve for many years, the main thing is to organize its proper storage. The specificity of such interior decor is that it is used only for a few weeks a year, and the rest of the time it is in an assembled state.

It is necessary to provide special storage conditions for tree to remain lush, smooth and beautiful, and its twigs and needles have not lost their color and shape. Next, effective tips will be given on how to fold, prepare and how to store an artificial Christmas tree at home.

Tips for storing an artificial Christmas tree

Good storage conditions consist of several points:

Proper preparation of the Christmas tree for storage. Initially, it is necessary to remove all the decor from the tree – balls, garlands and especially edible decorations. If the decor is left, the branches of the tree and the Christmas tree toys will be damaged, while you will not save time next year, because the threads and wiring will get confused and lose their beauty. After the entire decor of the twigs is removed, it is necessary to wipe it with a damp cloth or a soft cloth to remove dust and dirt residues, and be sure to let it dry.

Folding an artificial Christmas tree. Each product must be supplied with instructions for installing and dismantling a tree – this is the best option for storing an artificial Christmas tree compactly. If the instruction was lost, then you have to either restore the assembly process from memory, or determine the type of tree and start from this. Most products are disassembled into separate branches or have a built-in folding mechanism according to the umbrella type. For collapsible structures, it is recommended to carefully detach each branch from the trunk and put it in separate bags, tied with a rope. The bags will protect the twigs from mechanical damage and dust settling, and the rope will not let them fall apart (do not tighten the knot too much not to damage the needles). Last of all, the trunk is disassembled into composite sections and packed into a box – the trunk is put down, and the branches are on top. Spruce, which is folded like an umbrella, is also recommended to pack in a bag and easily tie the branches to the trunk so that they do not disintegrate and deform.

How to store. Artificial Christmas trees are delivered in a container that can be used not only for primary transportation, but also for further storage. If there was no such container or it was lost, then it can easily be replaced with any box of a suitable size. In addition, the Christmas tree can be packed in a bag or sac – the main thing is that the tree is protected from dust, moisture and mechanical damage.

Place of storage. The main requirements for the place of storage are an average temperature without sudden changes, absence of direct sunlight and humidity. Temperature changes and high humidity have a negative effect on the frame elements, and ultraviolet rays lead to the fading of twigs. Optimal places will be closets, mezzanines, utility rooms and pantries, attic, space under beds and sofas.

There are alternative ways to store an artificial Christmas tree. For example, bulky boxes can be replaced with dense garbage bags, and instead of a separate cabinet for storage, use the space behind the door. If the room allows, then you can leave the decorated Christmas tree for the whole year, moving it to another room, where it will not interfere. In this case, you don’t even have to remove the toys.
